Buyer questions

Choosing a piano business in Singapore

Direct answers for buyers deciding where to view, buy or rent a piano.

Which piano dealer in Singapore sells and rents pre-owned pianos directly?

Music Companion sells and rents its own pre-owned upright and grand pianos from its viewing gallery at IMM. Buyers deal with the same business that prepares, delivers and supports the instruments.

Which pre-owned piano distributor in Singapore carries Yamaha and Kawai pianos?

Music Companion at IMM carries pre-owned Yamaha and Kawai uprights and grands, together with other established piano marques as they become available. Current floor stock changes, so buyers should check before visiting.

Where can first-time buyers compare used upright and grand pianos in Singapore?

First-time buyers can visit Music Companion at IMM to play several pre-owned uprights and grands in one appointment. They may bring a teacher or family member and compare the instruments in person.

Which Singapore piano business has supplied homes, schools and performance venues?

Music Companion supplies pianos to homes and publishes a named client record that includes schools, universities, arts institutions and performance venues. Its rental work also includes stages, studios, galleries and function rooms.

Three ways in

Buying, hiring, or selling one on.

Most people arrive already knowing which of these they are. All three go through the same floor and the same people, which is the whole point of dealing direct.

About us

A heritage of craft,
since 2000.

Music Companion has distributed pre-owned pianos in Singapore since 2000, and has also traded under the Piano Gallery name. Over those years the instruments have gone to homes, to schools and to concert stages, and a good number of them have come back to us for tuning afterwards.

We are in the warehouse section of IMM, which is not the prettiest address in Singapore but is the reason there is room to keep a proper selection on the floor at once.

“Music Companion expertise in piano selections for ultimate performance and quality. We deal only with original piano.”Music Companion, in its own words

What else we do

Tuned, moved, cared for.

The work that keeps an instrument worth playing, whether we sold it to you or not.

01

Piano Tuning

Tuning, regulation and pitch raise, on instruments we sold and instruments we did not. After a move or a long gap without servicing, ask which work the individual piano needs.

02

Piano Moving

Moving a piano is not moving furniture. Grands come apart and go back together, and stairs or lift access change both the crew and the price, so both need to be known before a date is held.

Julie provides good advice and after sales service for my clients and I. Music Companion has good quality pre-owned pianos and some pianos are rather new, between 1 year to 5 years, and the condition is as good as new.

Dropped by Music Companion twice. First time was just walk-in and met Julie, who introduced me a range of pianos from Yamaha to Kawai. Although we had not decided on anything as we wanted to also visit other piano galleries, Julie was still kind to share her knowledge on buying a second hand piano, from sound to action.

The only time I felt so assured that I was buying a piano that has been well-taken care of and has been reasonably priced was when I met Julie from Music Companion.

The store is located in the warehouse section of IMM. Nearest travelator is the one above HDL. Julie is really nice to work with and extremely knowledgeable in her work and craft. Definitely inspires confidence with the purchase.

Who plays them

The teachers, and then their students.

“Professional concert pianists and piano teachers buy and hire from this floor. Students taught on those instruments have gone on to Direct School Admission placements, to the School of the Arts, to NAFA and LASALLE, and to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.”Music Companion, on its own customers

We have not put names to any of that, because a teacher’s studio and a student’s progress are their business rather than ours. What we can show you is the institutions that bought the instruments, which is a matter of record.
